Pisa & Florence, Italy… in 24 hours!

Hi! Welcome back. (:

SAY WHAT? Pisa & Florence in a day? Yes, I know it seems crazy, well it is crazy. My sister & I were extremely determined to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa. However, my dad was more interested in Florence history. So why not visit both?! An hour drive was all it took to get to Florence, so this plan was going to work out perfectly!

Scroll down to find out how we managed to go from Sicily > Pisa > Florence all within 24 hours!

PISA

FLYING INTO PISA

  • We flew directly into Pisa from Palermo, Sicily on Ryan Air. It ended up being a little less than $ 100 per person. Once we landed, we took a taxi directly to the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

HOW DO YOU GET FROM PISA TO FLORENCE?

  • Funny story, actually! The same taxi driver that picked us up from the airport, waited for us while we were touring the Leaning Tower of Pisa. He then gave us a flat rate of 200 euros to drive us over to Florence, which ended up being a little over an hour ride. Now, if you are looking for an option that is more cost efficient, I would recommend taking the train or bus. Being the fact that it was 9 pm at night and we had been running around all day, all three of us were ready to be in our hotel room.

LEANING TOWER FAQ’S:

  • The Leaning Tower was not leaning orginally.

  • Pisa has survived four earthquakes.

  • Pisa has seven different bells, each being a different musical note.

  • The cause for the leaning is from the uneven settling of the building’s foundation, which was built on very soft ground.

  • The monument is constantly moving and will need work done in the near future to prevent it to fall.

FLORENCE

HOTEL

  • Dedo Boutique Hotel

To Book a Room Click Here

  • Breakfast included (in most rates, double check before booking)

  • Keep in mind, if traveling with big pieces of luggage, you will most likely have to carry them up the stairs. The lift (elevator) is extremely small and can barely fit two people.

  • We had a great experience and would stay here again. The staff is very personable and are experts on the city!

SIGHTS TO SEE IN FLORENCE:

  • Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (pictures 6 & 7)

  • Uffizi Gallery (pictures 4 & 5)

  • Ponte Vecchio (picture 3)

  • David of Michelangelo

  • Piazza del Duomo

Florence is known for its history and importance during the Middle Age and the Renaissance time periods. You will find plenty of art, architecture and history museums. I would recommend visiting for at least a few days, so you are able to thoroughly enjoy the city!

Even though this was an extremely brief and vague summary of my few days in Pisa and Florence, the information is important. Make sure when planning your trip, you are looking at small things such as the location of your hotel, the distance between sights, the entrance fees into museums, etc. All the small things will help you plan your trip more efficiently!

As always, any questions or comments, either comment or reach out to me!

Thanks again for reading & Happy Travels!

Tata for now, XOXO Tay
