Austin, TX in December
What better way to spend the Christmas Season than visiting one of the most upcoming and popular cities in the country?
If you haven’t visited Austin, TX in December yet, I would highly recommend it. The weather was perfect, mid-70s to low-60s, sweater weather.
THINGS TO DO
Austin Public Library
For a beautiful view of the city and surrounding areas of Austin take the elevator to the top floor and enjoy the scenery! Make sure you stop by the bookstore inside, it’s full of souvenirs and fun gifts! There is a parking garage located right next to the library for easy access.
Shopping & Walking Around Congress Ave
Congress Ave is for those who enjoy high-end shopping, boutiques, fantastic food, ice cream, unique coffee shops, and the famous “I love you so much” mural! If you aren’t a big shopper, don’t worry, there is so much to see.
Austin Motel
If you love tree displays, the Austin Motel is for you! I’ve been told that anytime you visit throughout the year visiting the motel is worthwhile!
Daydreamer Coffee
Oh, did I LOVE this coffee shop! Modern, contemporary, and spacious. If I lived in Austin, this is where I would spend all my study time. (:
Miracle on 5th
The famous Christmas Pop-up Bar! Tickets aren’t cheap, starting at $25 a person, $50 a person for event nights, $75 a person for the “dasher pass” which lets you skip the line and be the first ones in and reservations for groups can reach the $1,000’s. The tickets are just the entrance fee. Even though the prices of the drinks are high, it’s an experience. Something to check off the bucket list for those who are Christmas lovers!
Get a Tattoo w/ your BFF
Not everyone believes in Tattoos, but if you are a believer… stop by Southside Tattoo. Located right on Congress Ave and accepts walk-ins. The minimum is $100, if you get something small as we did, you most likely will not exceed the minimum! A memory Lauren & I will remember forever.
PLACES TO EAT
Joann’s Fine Foods
Our first night in Austin and Joann’s hit the spot! It was the first Tex-Mex diner I have ever visited! Fun atmosphere, wonderful staff, and delicious food! Located on Congress Ave connected to the Austin Motel.
ABA
ABA, ABA! YES! My boujee self thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Aba. If you are wanting to dine here, a reservation is necessary. Our reservation was at 2 in the afternoon and it was fully busy then. The last thing you want to do when hungry is wait for hours. Enjoy the scenery, drinks, and small bites!
Ramen Tatsu-Ya
My first time trying Ramen! I will say I am horrible with chopsticks, I gave up pretty quickly, lol. According to the locals, this is one of the best Ramen spots in the city.
MOUR
Such a lovely blissful place for a Sunday brunch. We met up some friends and talked for hours. By the way, the mimosas are half a bottle of champagne with an ice cube of orange juice!
This trip couldn’t have been possible without the planning and hospitality of my best friend’s mother, we are ready to plan our next trip to visit you!
As always, hope you enjoyed the pictures and information! For any questions or comments please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays! XoXo Tay
