Where would you rather be: Beach or Mountains?

Do you think KeepingUpWithTay is a beach lover or a mountain girl?

Well….SURPRISE! I love both! My ideal living situation would involve both the coast and the mountain’s….hint as to why I am leaning towards the west side of the country to settle down in! (:

As A Child

  • My siblings and I were extremely blessed as kids and my parents were able to take us all around the country. Now, I can’t remember much since I so was young for most of it but I do remember always having a heart to be outside! Growing up in Iowa is beautiful and all but there isn’t much for us to look at.. (no offense to my fellow Iowan’s. ) My parents ended up getting a few timeshares around the country and we were in Orlando every year for a quite awhile. Not only did we enjoy the Disney World festivities but they always took us to the beach! For those of you who haven’t been to Orlando depending on which side of the state you drive too its only around an hour to hour and a half drive! I remember my dad always insisting on taking us to Daytona Beach. My sister, brother and I thought it was so cool because we take the car and drive on the beach!! I will never forget those days.

Mountains & Colorado

  • Now that we are older, my dad has had a timeshare in Colorado located in the middle of the mountains for about 7-8 years now. Every year we take at least one family trip out there. I love it, I feel at peace. The mountains bring me relaxation and joy. I feel as though time has stopped and I can finally breath in the fresh air. My dad is very good at scheduling day trip activities for us so we are always able to get out and enjoy the weather. As some of you know I am a BIGGGGG animal lover, so I always want to spend a day with the horses ! Nothing could be better than taking a horse ride through the mountains. There aren’t many times in life where we can stop and actually let ourselves think, and the mountains are the one place where I can hear myself.

The Water Is My Sanctuary

  • Oh my, now you got me talking about the OCEAN. Well if this says anything, I studied Marine Biology at Texas A & M in Houston for 2 years. I don’t eat seafood. I live and breath the ocean. I find it completely amazing how we have a whole other world under the water, which we know little to nothing about. I will write about my Marine Biology adventures at a later time. The beach also brings the sense of family and friends. Some of my favorite times while I lived in South Florida were at the beach with friends or when family came to town. It is also a ton of fun when the beach bars are right across the street, hehe.

Fun Fact: When I’ve lived within minutes of the water, in Texas and in Florida, I would make it a habit to wake up at sunrise and go shelling. I enjoyed being by myself. At times, I would find fish or other sea life that needed help getting back in the water. I would also make sure I picked the best shells for my grandma that way when I went home next I could give her some good ones. She now has a good size collection all from me, her best granddaughter, lol! I don’t know if you all knew this, but at sunrise baby sea turtle’s hatch and make their way towards sea. You haven’t seen cute till you have witnessed this!

Every ocean is different, and they are all worth seeing.

I know I didn’t give you a solid answer to which was my favorite beach or mountains.. but how can you not be a fan of both?! I hope you were able to learn a little bit more about my crazy self! If you can’t find me or haven’t heard from me for a few days, I am most likely at a beach somewhere in the world or in the middle of the mountains with no service, HA! If this doesn’t push you to see more, I don’t know what will. Enjoy our beautiful earth we are so blessed to live on! Tata for now, XOXO Tay
