Hugh Taylor Birch State Park (Fort Lauderdale, FL)

Hugh Taylor Birch State Park

It’s hard to find peaceful in South Florida. This state park was finally somewhere where I could hear the simple sound of birds. It makes you feel like you’re in a rainforest. I attached a map below and the park is extremely simple to navigate through.

Note: A Fee of $4 is required for all cars entering the park.

  • When you first enter the park you will turn right and see a sign for the restaurant.. down at the end you will see Kayak’s and other outdoor actives on the left and the “Park & Ocean Restaurant - Fort Lauderdale,” on your right.

  • As you can tell in the map above, the bar/restaurant is located right on the beach. When you are sitting in the picnic area or even at the bar, you are able to see the water right in front of you, it’s serene.

Park & Ocean Restaurant

  • As stated above the Park & Ocean Restaurant is located almost immediately after the entrance to the park. I have attached a few pictures, I unfortunately did not have time to eat here, but I did get to chat with the staff for a few minutes while taking pictures. They were all extremely friendly and gave me plenty of positive vibes.

  • On top of the staff, they have a 4.5 google review, so if that doesn’t speak for itself, I don’t know what does. Definitely going back to get a Pina Colada soon!

  • Outside Picnic Area, in back of restaurant

  • Bar Inside overlooking outside garden area

Beautiful Drive

  • On top of the restaurant, and outdoor activities, the drive itself is beautiful. It reminded me of Costa Rica. I lucked out on timing since it just finished downpouring and in my opinion, that’s the most beautiful time to be outside, unless its humid, lol.

  • Below are pictures of the intercoastal, at times you might catch a few dolphins swimming around. Picnic tables are around the park for you and the family to enjoy a nice lunch (you will see the locations on the map.)

  • I know this blog is short and sweet, but it’s always good to have places to put on the list when planning a trip down to South Florida! Thank you for reading, and I hoped you enjoyed the pictures.
