Jaco, Costa Rica
Located on the Central Pacific Coast, only a few hours away from the San Jose International Airport, is a place that I call heaven… Jaco, Costa Rica.
Most known for its surfing, beaches, rainforests and nightlife! I visited a few years back in the middle of the pandemic and fell in love with the town. I thought why not go back and take my mom with?! We visited the first week of April. We lucked out on weather, sunny, mid to upper 80’s and it even cooled down enough at night for us to be enjoy the bars!
Whether you are traveling alone, in a couple or with friends/family there is plenty to do for all ages!
WHERE TO STAY?

Words can not express my love for this place. You know its a winner if I stay at the same hotel twice, lol! Located directly on the beach, offers private or shared rooms, surf lessons, activities, shared kitchen, business center and much more… the amenities are what makes it!
WHAT TO DO?
SUNSET ON JACO BEACH
If you’re staying directly on the beach you can see right through your window! However, if you are more inland, I would plan a night to head over to beach one night to watch the sunset, preferably on a clear night!
ZIPLINING THROUGH THE RAINFOREST
We did our tour through Rainforest Adventures. Only minutes away from downtown, includes transportation, lockers and much more! As seen in all the pictures below, its a once and a lifetime opportunity! SOOO… I’m not sure if they wanted my mom and I all to themselves, or if they were just having a slow day, but we got what they called a “VIP” tour, haha! Two very nice gentleman were with us throughout the entirely experience and treated us like queens! After we checked in, we were fitted for our harnesses. Next, we rode the Aerial Tram all the top to start our zipline tour! You make your way through 10 different cables before you reach the end of the ziplines! Please be aware that there is quite a bit of walking, being healthy is important.
Surprisingly, this was my first time ziplining! The experience was everything I ever wanted it to be and was super happy with my decision to go through Rainforest Adventures in Jaco!
NATURE WALK
This nature walk was included in our tour following our zipline, however there are plenty of parks to visit nearby that will provide you with just as much beauty and hopefully some furry friends, hehe!
BUTTERFLY GARDEN
Exploring a butterfly garden in Central America isn’t like exploring one in the United States. Our climate doesn’t have the capacity to grow the tropical plants that you will see in Costa Rica!

The restaurants/ cafes I list below are just a few of my favorites! Jaco is filled with a wide range of cuisines that will favor everyone’s taste buds! If you take a walk down Avenida Pastor Diaz (the main street in the town) you will find ALL the restaurants you could think of!
